A brief introduction about me: I'm Kelvin, a former EastWest Bank employee who worked as a Field Collection Officer and Repossessor for five years. Unfortunately, the bank underwent redundancy and I was one of the employees who were laid off. For the past few months, I've been working as a motorcycle ride-hailing rider. In this blog, I'll be sharing my experience training as a virtual assistant and some of the challenges I'm facing.

Freelancing Training

How I Got Started

My brother has been a virtual assistant for years now and he always encourages me to start my own freelancing career. A few months ago, I was laid off from my previous job, and I decided to start my research. Since I had no idea about virtual assistant work, I joined various Facebook groups. One post caught my attention about a General Virtual Assistant training program at Surge Digital Agency that had promotions and discounts. I enrolled gladly, and while everything about basic VA work was already covered, I faced even harder challenges and struggles as I progressed.

Freelancing Training Struggles

My ultimate struggles during this training are work-life balance and time management. As I work as a ride-hailing rider, I usually spend most of my time on the road and go home late, leaving me with little time to work on my freelancing tasks. I found it challenging to manage my time during the first part of my training. Additionally, some of the new tools and software used in virtual assistant work are quite new to me, so completing tasks takes longer than expected. Despite these struggles, there is always an exciting part to it.

Freelancing Training Progress

The best part of the training is that I love what I'm doing, and I enjoy every task, even if it's challenging. Whenever I feel stressed about a difficult task, I take a break and return to it when I'm ready. I have learned a lot from this training, such as Social Media Management and Marketing, Transcription, Website creation, and what virtual assistants do. It's crucial to be organized and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and provide high-quality work. I make sure to schedule breaks throughout the day to maintain a healthy work-life balance. I'm excited to continue growing as a virtual assistant, and if you're considering a career in this field, I encourage you to explore it further and see how it can fit into your career goals. Thank you for reading my virtual assistant training journey blog, and I look forward to sharing more of my experiences with you soon!
